Paper Cut Letters

paper cutting alphabet

I like the idea of adding paper cut letters to my art journaling. I made this paper cut alphabet with an old book I bought at a thrift store. I cut strips of 6 lines of text and then cut the letters by hand with a pair of scissors. But I did consider drawing something on one side to cut out, which I thought would be important if I tried cutting out a word in cursive.

Paper to Cut

  • cutting letters from magazine, newspaper, sheet music, map, etc.
  • painting a page, then cutting out letters
  • cutting fabric letters

Glue for Paper Cut Letters

For this project, I used Scotch Craft Stick and my favourite scissors, but you could also try using mod podge, white glue or skip the glue and stitch the letters with a sewing machine.

I am participating in the 31 Days, which is a blogging challenge in October organized by The Nester. I have chosen to (attempt) to write Monday-Friday during October on the topic of art journaling.

Your page looks amazing! Love that you used an old book for cutting your letters.
(and super happy, that I inspired you for this)
